What to Prepare

Audition Guidelines by Age

We tailor our auditions to each age group. Here's what to expect.

Elementary

Nova Choirs

Grades K-5

Prepare a simple, familiar song—something your singer knows by heart.

  • Nursery rhymes or songs like "Twinkle Twinkle" work great
  • Group auditions with 2-3 singers
  • Pitch matching exercises
  • About 10 minutes total
Why simple songs? We want to hear your child's natural voice without pressure.
Middle School

Cascadia Choir

Grades 6-8

Prepare a short song you know well—any genre is welcome.

  • Vocal range evaluation
  • Pitch matching (tonal memory)
  • Optional: harmonizing exercise
  • Video auditions available
High School

Pacific & Chamber

Grades 9-12

Prepare a solo piece that showcases your voice and musicality.

  • Any genre welcome
  • Vocal range evaluation
  • Tonal memory exercises
  • Sight-reading for experienced singers
  • Video auditions available

Parent/Guardian Information

Please provide the contact information for the parent or guardian who will be the primary contact for this audition process. This is the person who will receive all communications regarding scheduling, results, and next steps.

Please provide details about the student who would like to audition for Pacific Youth Choir. The information you provide here helps us place your student in the appropriate choir based on age, experience, and vocal range.

For students in 6th-12th grade, please provide their contact information so we can communicate directly with them when appropriate.
